I've said this once, and I'll say it again: fantasy, as well as many other fiction series, doesn't always need romance. I was, however, very annoyed by the naivete of Ember and was past my limit with how much the romance played a part in the series. I also thought it was a good way to talk about how newer generations see the world differently compared to older generations, and how the newer generation comes to terms with the past as well as trying to change the future to change it for the better. I did think this series was an interesting modern twist on dragons and how the past has to be dealt with in the present, and considered in the future. I did, however, get the opportunity to grow up with the How to Train Your Dragon book series and movies (I will be crying during the third one). Sadly, I didn't get the chance while growing up to read the Eragon series, but overall I saw dragons as the ultimate mythical beings that are just awesome. I start off with my rating so I can explain why. My average ratings for all the books in the Talon saga: ****. Throughout this entire series, Ember, Riley the rogue dragon, and Garret uncover the secrets both Talon and the Order have kept from them.

But as he gets to know her, he begins to question what the Order taught him and his fellow soldiers about dragons. Meanwhile, St George soldier Garret Xavier Sebastian is tasked with hunting and killing Ember. But when she meets a rogue dragon, he begins to challenge all she knows. She's given time "off" in her summer vacation up until the point she finds out she has to train to find out her place in Talon. The Talon saga focuses on the clash between these three, mostly on Ember Hill, a "hatchling" who has to earn her place in Talon by proving she can blend in with normal humans. And the Rogues, an independent and not large group of dragons who escaped Talon because of their dirty secrets and experiments. The Order of St George have been around for as long as dragons have been, the humans part of it knowing their secret, and wanting to get rid of all of them. Talon is a secret dragon organization that was once led to extinction, but now wants to take over the world. There are three groups in the world where dragons are a secret: the Dragons of Talon, the Order of St George, and the Rogues.

Here is my series review on the Talon series by Julie Kagawa. I'm feeling better, so I'm ready for another review. Hello, people of the interweb! I am slightly off schedule because I've had a series of headaches that make it difficult to stare at screens for a long time.
